You’ve Never Seen Anything Like It!

We think we’ve seen it all. Americans are desensitized to just about every phenomenon. Hollywood is hard-pressed to shock us and must push the envelope farther all the time. It’s like any addiction; it takes more and more to give us that “fix”. Most of us have become so numb, that we even yawn at the sight of wonders that used to take our breath away. They fail to impress us. We’ve seen it all before….or so we think.
“No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
God is waiting to blow your mind with what He has prepared for you. Open your eyes. Open your ears. Open your mind. Stop trying to figure it all out. Just pay attention. He has plans you know nothing about…yet, and He thrills to see the wonder in your eyes at the time of His “Big Reveal”. There are things that your heart doesn’t even know to wish for! Just love God, (“…for those who love Him.”) and stay wide-eyed.
Trust this: you haven’t seen it all. You couldn’t handle it.

Dangerous Prayer of the Month: “Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine me and test me, get a clear picture of what I”m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong-then guide me on the road to eternal life.” Psalm 139:18

You can trust Him. Go ahead. I dare you.

You Remain (random song lyrics)

I sought my own way,
forged on in vain.
I found my way home
Where You remain.

I searched for honor.
I reached for fame.
They made a fool of me
Still You remained.

I won the medals,
the weath and gain.
I lost it anyway
but You reamained

They all stand by me.
They walk away.
They come and they go (don’t they).
But You remain.

I was innocent.
I was to blame.
I thought You’d leave me.
But You remained.

I brought You glory.
I brougt You shame.
It’s all before You now.
Still, You remain.

I hear the thunder.
I smell the rain.
The lightning flashes.
And You remain

The wind is colder,
The leaves, they’ve changed
And I am older
Still ,You remain

“To Die is Gain?”

I just tried to comfort a grieving friend. I reminded him of the apostle Paul’s words for the Christian, “to die is gain”. Truth is, it doesn’t feel like gain to those left behind. It feels like loss.
It feels like WE lost. It feels like WE”RE lost.
The earth lost a saint…Heaven’s gain.
Though we are richer by knowing them, we feel robbed without them here.
LORD, fill the emptiness we feel at the loss of something priceless, invaluable, irreplaceable. Only You can, only You can.
We all lose. We all let go one day. But, we have hope in Jesus.
Friend, do you know him? Can you look at death as “gain” because you will be with your Savior and King and closest Friend?
There is nothing like being confronted with death to make us think. So think.

I’m sooooo excited!

Wait.

“…for since the beginning of the world, men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits on Him.” Isaiah 63:4

I have had many crazy schemes and cockamamie ideas…guess you could say I’m an entrepreneur at heart. I’ve always suspected that I could’ve gone down in history as some sort of ‘legend before her time’ if I could’ve only found some poor sucker to bank-roll me. Travis Hurst has been that sucker a few times, I’m afraid, when one of my less-thought-out “brilliant ideas” would surface. Somehow, to this day, despite the countless lost hours (and bank), I can still convince him from time to time that ‘this is it! The one idea that will change the world!’ and “poof!” he’s back on board. Oh the power I have over him…mmmoooooo-ha-ha!
I have actually been shocked that a few roads I’ve forged deposited me at the proverbial dead-end. I have been sure that I was finally on Destiny avenue more than a few times, only to be detoured by the ever-faithful Compass with a capital “C”.
I have learned that praise is perfected in moments like these. God is faithful, you guys.
If I push and shove, muster or manipulate, God will let me. He’ll also let me reap the benefits of such. Somehow, though, If I’ll wait, He will blow my mind! My favorite knick-name for Him is “Show-off”, respectfully of course.
I’m not claiming that waiting is by any means a picnic in the park. Most of us want to move..and now! Struggling and striving to move unreasonable circumstances or to create the most reasonable of them seems far easier than just waiting. In fact, I vote for “active waiting”. That is to say, waiting and working-with ears and eyes ready for what ‘has not been heard or seen since the beginning of the world’. Work and wait. Wait and work. He’ll show up with the fireworks…and the bank!
